Relational Mindfulness:
Exploring Compassionate Connection
Sundays August 11-25 & September 8
9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
In these four free community sessions, we’ll explore blending mindfulness-based meditation with Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to provide participants an opportunity to explore compassionate communication in community.
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a mindfulness practice that directs attention to elements of our shared life experience that contribute to compassionate giving and receiving in interpersonal communication.
Through the practice of NVC, we can learn to clarify what we are observing, what emotions we are feeling, what values we want to live by, and what we want to ask of ourselves and others. We will no longer need to use the language of blame, judgment, or domination. We can experience the deep pleasure of contributing to each others’ well-being. — James Prieto
