Book cover: How the Word is Passed by Clint Smith

The March JEDI Book Club will be Tuesday, March 15th at 7:30 pm CDT. We will be reading How the Word is Passed, A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America by Clint Smith.

This is a powerful and important book – I don’t know anyone who has read it that hasn’t been changed by it. The publisher, Little Brown and Company. has a great summary of the book – here is an excerpt: “Beginning in his hometown of New Orleans, Clint Smith leads the reader on an unforgettable tour of monuments and landmarks—those that are honest about the past and those that are not—that offer an intergenerational story of how slavery has been central in shaping our nation’s collective history, and ourselves.”

Please feel welcome to attend, even if you missed earlier meetings. This is an open group, and we understand that our lives are busy and not everyone will be able to attend each month!

The JEDI Book Club is facilitated by Resilient Activists Brenda Bennett-Pike and Anne Melia. We hope you will join us!
