Join Well Wilderness Kids for a weekend of outdoor retreat, education, & community-building with other educators & professionals who are passionate about learning opportunities for children in nature!

Learning Objectives:

*better incorporate nature-based learning into your teaching environment
*understand how & why to implement mindfulness & movement into a child’s learning experience & developmental goals
*gain tools to strengthen social emotional intelligence
*be introduced to the concept of a Learning Ally
*appreciate the sensory & immune benefits of “getting dirty” in an outdoor learning environment
*network with other nature-loving educators/professionals in hopes to share the importance of outdoor natureplay & education

The retreat will take place at Well Wilderness Kids Therapeutic Nature Center, a 10-acre homestead in South Kansas City, that provides nature-based programs in an inclusive model for children of all ages & abilities. The Nature Team is composed of professionals specialized in child development, including Early Childhood Educators/Early Interventionists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, & Music Therapists.

Our keynote speaker, Dr Tracy Daniel, Child Health Psychologist & owner of Mindful Child Wellness, will share how mindfulness & yoga have been scientifically proven to reduce anxiety, aggression & depression in young children. Based on her soon-to-be-released book, Mindfulness for Children: 150 Mindfulness Activities for Happier, Healthier, Stress-Free Kids, she will also provide us with practical ways to incorporate these practices into your teaching environment. A book signing will follow the presentation.

Sami Aaron, Master Facilitator of The Nature Process®, will guide you through a deep nature meditation based on the concepts from her workbook Experience Your 54 Senses: A Companion Workbook for The Nature Process. After the meditation, join her for a powerful discussion on ways to bring more nature into your everyday life. As founder of the nonprofit, The Resilient Activist, Sami will share tips and tools on how you can live from a nature-centered mindset to nurture your own heart while you support and uplift our glorious planet.
