About this Event

Heartland Conservation Alliance and The Resilient Activist invite you to experience the Blue River and your connection to nature.

Through a guided meditation and community cleanup, HCA and The Resilient Activist demonstrate the ways the Blue River is a community asset and how it enriches our lives. The event will take place at Minor Park. Unable to make it? That’s ok! The meditation will be offered via Zoom so you can participate from your own backyard.

Did you know that the Blue River travels 42 miles, across two states, five counties, and 21 municipalities? It flows from Johnson County Kansas, through Kansas City Metro Area where it confluences with the Missouri River in eastern Jackson County. The Blue River directly impacts your life, and it’s important we take care of it for the health of all the communities the river connects.

More details to come.

The event is free, but registration is required so we can send you the Zoom link!

All participants are asked to adhere to COVID guidelines. Please wear a mask and keep socially distant from those not in your party.

Mighty Networks Changes & Poetry Reading from our new Admin!

The Resilient Activist’s Founder, Sami Aaron, will give an informative lesson about the changes in the way our private social media site, Mighty Networks is organized.

Join us to learn how you can easily attend our events, share relevant articles, express your thoughts, and connect with other climate-aware folks!

If you’ve wondered how to navigate your way around and become more active on The Resilient Activist’s social media site, this live session is just for you. You’ll have a chance to ask questions and learn lots of tips and tricks.

Research studies show that participating in a caring, like-minded community can really boost emotional resilience. Our online community is filled with more than 300 participants who are concerned about climate change and who are making a difference in the world.

This event will include a meet and greet with our new administrative assistant, Indigo Gilmore, who will share some of their poetry to promote thoughtfulness for the new year!

A section from one of their poems (join us to hear the whole thing!):
